Pat Boone originally made his mark in Hollywood as a squeaky clean teen idol during the \u201850s and \u201860s. He has seen the best and worst the show biz lifestyle has to offer. Boone has been outspoken on his Christian values in the past, but no one could imagine the legendary crooner would be so abrasive in his remarks on modern Hollywood.<\/p>\n

Boone was out promoting his faith-based film\u00a0The Mulligan<\/em>, which focuses on forgiveness.\u00a0According<\/a>\u00a0to\u00a0Fox News<\/em>, \u201cBoone said it takes a lot to impress him these days when it comes to taking on a new role. In leading a successful decades-long career in both music and movies, Boone said moral values are missing from today\u2019s film industry.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThe film industry was a great export for America for so many years,\u201d Boone\u00a0explained<\/a>. \u201cWe were showing America in its best light. Even though crime was dealt with \u2013 because bad things do happen in life \u2013 but almost all American movies ended with good triumphing and good people doing righteous things. Criminals were always apprehended and punished,\u201d he continued.<\/p>\n

\u201cBut now, the whole thing is upside down,\u201d the veteran entertainer\u00a0said<\/a>. \u201cSome of the biggest films now show people getting away with the worst things. Lawbreakers are even celebrated. The criminals are becoming bigger. Heroes are doing worse things than criminals and being rewarded for it. The movies being made now are immoral, and they\u2019ve lost their meaning.\u201d<\/p>\n

Boone\u2019s criticism wasn\u2019t just limited to movies. The Grammy-nominated singer also sounded off against Netflix over their series\u00a0Big Mouth,<\/em>\u00a0an animated puberty comedy series. \u201cHere\u2019s a nerdish young kid \u2013 and he and his friends are learning about masturbation, oral sex \u2013 all kinds of things,\u201d Boone\u00a0said<\/a>\u00a0of the show. \u201cAnd this is on\u00a0Netflix. I don\u2019t even know how they can even defend it, but it\u2019s there. It\u2019s all out there. Parents will just see it\u2019s an animated show and think it\u2019s OK for their kids to watch it \u2026 I mean, how bad can we get?\u201d<\/p>\n

The longtime musician wasn\u2019t finished as he went on to claim that Hollywood as we know it is committing suicide. \u201cAnd it\u2019s not just on streaming services,\u201d Boone\u00a0said<\/a>. \u201cOn television, you can hear all sorts of swear words. Nothing short of actual pornography is celebrated on television now. I don\u2019t know how to put it strongly enough, but I just think the film industry is committing suicide.\u201d<\/p>\n

High ratings have become more important these days,\u201d he\u00a0said<\/a>. \u201cWe used to try to put our best foot forward. Sure, people can criticize those films today and call them unrealistic, but we were being altruistic. We wanted to present people in the best light. Now, we\u2019re just taking pleasure in profit, presenting people in the worst light and celebrating it.\u201d<\/p>\n

People might not know that Pat Boone turned down a film starring Marilyn Monore due to his Christian values. \u201cI would have loved to do a movie with Marilyn Monroe,\u201d he\u00a0clarified<\/a>. \u201cWe were both under contract at 20th Century Fox. But I just thought it was an immoral story in which a younger guy gets involved with a still beautiful, but slightly over-the-hill cabaret performer played by Marilyn Monroe.\u201d<\/p>\n
