Celine Dion canceled her world tour for 2023 after announcing her diagnosis of\u00a0Stiff Person Syndrome. The syndrome is an autoimmune neurological disorder that leads to muscle rigidity and excruciating spasms.<\/p>\n

After revealing that she was suffering from this\u00a0rare disease<\/a>, the award-winning singer\u00a0receded from the limelight<\/a>. But her family kept fans in the loop and her sister Claudette has been giving regular updates on Celine Dion\u2019s health. In an interview, Claudette said, \u201cWe are keeping our fingers crossed in the quest to find a remedy for Celine\u2019s distressing ailment. The spasms are uncontrollable.\u201d<\/p>\n

Since the disease is so rare, Claudette went on to explain what it feels like. She explained, \u201cYou know how people often abruptly wake up due to a leg or calf cramp? It\u2019s somewhat akin to that, but it affects all her muscles. There\u2019s little we can do to ease her suffering.\u201d<\/p>\n

According to reports, Celine\u2019s sister Linda has moved in with her to help care for her. Her sons Ren\u00e9-Charles, Eddy, and Nelson are also with their mother through this difficult time in her life.<\/p>\n

Claudette gave an interview to\u00a0Le Journal de Montreal<\/em>\u00a0to give fans an insight into how Celine\u2019s life is at the moment. \u201cWhen I call her and she\u2019s busy, I speak to my sister Linda, who lives with her and tells me that she\u2019s working hard,\u201d Claudette revealed.<\/p>\n

Dion had planned to embark on her much-awaited tour in Spring 2023\u00a0but canceled it in December last year after announcing her illness to the world. She posted a video to her Instagram account in which she expressed herself directly to her fans. She\u00a0said<\/a>, \u201cIt\u2019s been exceedingly challenging for me to confront these trials and openly discuss the issues I\u2019ve been grappling with\u2026 While we\u2019re still unraveling the mysteries of this rare condition, we now understand it as the root cause behind all the spasms I\u2019ve been enduring.\u201d<\/p>\n

Stiff Person Syndrome is incredibly rare. It only affects one person in a million. The syndrome causes muscles to tense up uncontrollably and then leaves a person looking like a \u2018human statue\u2019 as even walking and talking become a struggle.<\/p>\n

While there is no cure for the syndrome, there are treatments that can slow down its progression. And the singer said she is doing everything she can to reduce her symptoms.<\/p>\n

But while she is managing her symptoms, she is still said to be in a lot of pain. In June this year, a source\u00a0revealed<\/a>\u00a0that \u201cCeline is in an enormous amount of pain,\u201d adding that, \u201cShe has the best medical team money can buy, but things aren\u2019t looking good.<\/p>\n

The source lamented, \u201cHer disease is incurable. And as hard she\u2019s worked at it with doctors and therapists, she simply isn\u2019t getting better.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cTo be honest, she can barely move,\u201d they shared.<\/p>\n

According to the news, the singer has sold her house in order to be closer to her family during this trying time as well.<\/p>\n
