George Clooney ripped Mark Wahlberg, revealing that the conservative actor told him to \u201cf*ck right off\u201d when Clooney offered him a major role in one of his films. Clooney also blasted Johnny Depp, who turned him down for the same role.<\/h3>\n

While being interviewed at the TCM Classic Film Festival, George Clooney claimed that Mark Wahlberg had been offered a major role in his 2001 hit film,\u00a0Ocean\u2019s Eleven.<\/em>\u00a0The Oscar-award-winning actor revealed that he had slated Wahlberg for the part of Linus Caldwell, which eventually went to Matt Damon.\u00a0However, Wahlberg wasn\u2019t the only famous actor who turned down the same role.<\/p>\n

Clooney also blasted actor Johnny Depp for turning down the role of Linus Caldwell. \u201cSome very famous people told us to f\u2014 right off. Mark Wahlberg, Johnny Depp. There were others. They regret it now. I regret doing f\u2014ing \u2018Batman,’\u201d Clooney said,\u00a0according<\/a>\u00a0to\u00a0Fox News.\u00a0<\/em>\u201cSteven [Soderbergh] had just done Erin Brockovich\u00a0and\u00a0Traffic, and he was nominated for directing both films\u2026 So, people really wanted to work with Steven,\u201d Clooney continued. \u201cThat said, some people did say no to us.\u201d<\/p>\n

It\u2019s no accident that Clooney looked to Matt Damon when Wahlberg and Depp declined the role.\u00a0According<\/a>\u00a0to\u00a0People Magazine<\/em>, Damon and Clooney have been best friends for over 20 years. The two first met in 1999, right when Clooney was coming off of his breakout, Emmy-nominated stint on NBC\u2019s\u00a0ER<\/em>.<\/p>\n

Many A-list stars did end up signing on for\u00a0Ocean\u2019s Eleven<\/em>, which starred George Clooney and Matt Damon as well as Brad Pitt, Andy Garcia, Julia Roberts, Don Cheadle, and others. It was so successful that it spawned three sequels:\u00a0Ocean\u2019s Twelve,<\/em>\u00a0Ocean\u2019s Thirteen,<\/em>\u00a0and\u00a0Ocean\u2019s 8.<\/em><\/p>\n

Wahlberg and Depp might not have been the only famous names to turn down roles in this movie.\u00a0Insider<\/em>\u00a0reported<\/a>\u00a0that others who are rumored to have turned down roles in\u00a0Ocean\u2019s Eleven\u00a0<\/em>include Danny Glover, Bruce Willis, Owen Wilson, and Luke Wilson. During the filming of\u00a0Ocean\u2019s Eleven<\/em>,\u00a0Variety\u00a0<\/em>reported<\/a>\u00a0that Depp was being considered for the role of Linus Caldwell before Wahlberg was allegedly cast, but Wahlberg then dropped out of the production to make\u00a0Planet Of The Apes<\/em>, leading to Damon being cast in the role instead.<\/p>\n

Mark Wahlberg and George Clooney couldn\u2019t be further from each other when it comes to personal politics and matters of faith. Clooney was raised a strict Roman Catholic, but in 1998, he\u00a0said<\/a>\u00a0that he did not know if he believed \u201cin Heaven or even God.\u201d In contrast, Wahlberg has been very vocal about how much his Catholic faith means to him. \u201c[The faith] part of the discipline has really afforded me all the other wonderful things in my life, my family, my career, being able to turn my life around,\u201d he\u00a0said<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Additionally, during the heated 2016 presidential campaign, Clooney slammed Donald Trump. \u201cThere is not gonna be a President Donald Trump,\u201d Clooney\u00a0said<\/a>. \u201cIt\u2019s not gonna happen.\u201d In contrast, Mark Wahlberg made headlines when he blasted celebrities for talking politics after he was asked about the seemingly endless number of celebs who bashed Trump.<\/p>\n

\u201cA lot of celebrities did, do, and shouldn\u2019t [talk about politics],\u201d Wahlberg\u00a0told<\/a>\u00a0Task & Purpose<\/em>, a news and analysis outlet geared toward American service veterans. \u201cYou know, it just goes to show you that people aren\u2019t listening to that anyway,\u201d the actor told the outlet. \u201cThey might buy your CD or watch your movie, but you don\u2019t put food on their table. You don\u2019t pay their bills. A lot of Hollywood is living in a bubble. They\u2019re pretty out of touch with the common person, the everyday guy out there providing for their family.\u201d<\/p>\n
