Keeping up with what to watch is a task of Sisyphean proportions, the second you finish one great series another is waiting in the wings.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

But one series has taken many people by surprise, even being dubbed ‘the best\u00a0series<\/a> you’ve never seen’.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

You probably know him better as everyone’s favourite psychopathic Superman, Homelander.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

The hit\u00a0Amazon<\/a>\u00a0series\u00a0The Boys<\/em><\/a>\u00a0<\/em>sees corporate superheroes idolised by the public.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

Behind closed doors however, the supes get up to all manner of awful shenanigans, from super-orgies to super-doping.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

Starr plays Homelander, a take on Superman who appears to be\u00a0America’s<\/a>\u00a0darling, but is actually a highly dangerous narcissist.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

The show’s fourth season is not expected until next year, but there is another place where fans can get their fix.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

One series from before\u00a0The Boys\u00a0<\/em>sees Antony Starr swapping Homelander’s slicked blonde hair and barely-contained murderous rage for a buzz cut and a sheriff’s badge.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

This is\u00a0Banshee<\/em>, which ran from 2013 to 2016, and has the New Zealand actor taking on the role of a mysterious ex convict assuming the identity of Sheriff Lucas Hood.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

Hood is actually the murdered police chief of the town, but the convict has to conceal himself in a bid to hide from the ferocious\u00a0crime<\/a>\u00a0lord Rabbit, who is played by Ben Cross.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

But things are complicated further when his old flame, who also happens to be Rabbit\u2019s daughter, also relocates to the same town and assumes a new identity.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

Called\u00a0Banshee<\/em>, the show has been praised by the Independent\u2019s Sarah Hughes as \u2018one of the best TV shows you\u2019ve never seen\u2019.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

She added: \u201cThis is pulp television at its best, a fast, furious blast of over-the-top plotlines, scenery-chewing villains and tightly shot action scenes.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cWritten by acclaimed literary novelists Jonathan Tropper and David Schickler, Banshee comes across like the result of an all-night speed-writing jag yet its gleeful indulgence in pulp\u2019s conventions \u2013 a man with no name, a bad girl trying hard to be good, a sharp-suited villain whose slick words disguise his true evil \u2013 is what makes it such fun.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

Hughes is not alone either, Collider’s Allison Keene reflected the show’s creative violence.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

She wrote: “Banshee\u2019s story is full of twists and unexpected connections, as well as its telltale brutal violence.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

\u201cIn a sick streak of creativity, the show continues to find new, gruesome ways to kill people.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n
