Jenna Ortega reportedly won’t be back for\u00a0Scream 7,\u00a0<\/em>it has been claimed.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

Ortega<\/a>\u00a0starred as Tara Carpenter in the sixth instalment of the\u00a0horror<\/a>\u00a0franchise, which hit cinemas back in March 2023.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

Away from\u00a0Scream,<\/em>\u00a0Ortega is best known for starring in hit\u00a0Netflix<\/a>\u00a0shows,\u00a0You\u00a0<\/em>and\u00a0<\/em>Wednesday<\/em><\/a>.<\/em><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

According to a report from Deadline, her decision to step away from the movie came before the\u00a0SAG-AFTRA strike<\/a>\u00a0which halted Hollywood in recent months.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

Following\u00a0Wednesday<\/em>‘s huge success<\/a>\u00a0after its debut in November 2022, the 21-year-old is said to be focusing her attention on the second series, Deadline reports.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

Filming for\u00a0Scream 7<\/em>\u00a0allegedly clashes with her shooting schedule for the\u00a0The Addams Family<\/em>\u00a0spin-off<\/a>\u00a0– which isn’t expected to land on Netflix until late next year.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

UNILAD has contacted Ortega’s reps for comment.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

It was announced at the beginning of the year that\u00a0Wednesday<\/em>\u00a0has been renewed for a second series.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cWe can\u2019t wait to dive headfirst into another season and explore the kooky, spooky world of Nevermore,\u201d\u00a0Wednesday<\/em>\u00a0Season 1 co-showrunners Miles Millar and Alfred Gough said at the time.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

“We just need to make sure Wednesday hasn\u2019t emptied the pool first.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

The news of Ortega’s apparent exit comes after\u00a0Melissa Barrera was fired<\/a>\u00a0from the upcoming movie for social media posts that were seen as anti-Semitic in the wake of the ongoing\u00a0conflict between Israel and Hamas<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

In one post, the actor shared a photo of a Palestinian flag with the caption “I too come from a colonized country” \/ “Palestine WILL be free” while quoting a famous line from Greek poet Dinos Christianopoulos: “They tried to bury us, they didn’t know we were seeds.”<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Confirming the decision to axe Barrera, Spyglass – the production company behind\u00a0Scream 7<\/em>\u00a0– said in a statement to Variety: “Spyglass\u2019 stance is unequivocally clear: We have zero tolerance for antisemitism or the incitement of hate in any form, including false references to genocide, ethnic cleansing, Holocaust distortion or anything that flagrantly crosses the line into hate speech.”<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

Barrera hasn’t officially commented on being let go from the\u00a0Scream\u00a0<\/em>franchise, but\u00a0appeared to reference to it in a now-deleted Instagram post.<\/a><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

In the post, she shared an image of a message on a wall that read: \u201cAt the end of the day, I’d rather be excluded for who I include, than be included for who I exclude.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
