Family members have been known to turn on each over an inheritance – but these lot didn’t even wait until their poor mom was dead to start making claims on her assets.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

One elderly\u00a0mother<\/a>\u00a0had her children threatening to\u00a0sue<\/a> her so they could get their hands on her inheritance, subsequently making future family dinners incredibly awkward.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

The mom-of-three was looking to sell her home and downsize after her offspring had flown the nest – something very common for a lot of parents to do.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

The woman explained how she had hoped to free up a bit of\u00a0cash<\/a>\u00a0to cover potential\u00a0medical expenses<\/a>\u00a0in the future.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

Her children were having none of this though, plunging the woman’s plans into chaos.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

When her children discovered that she was putting the property on the market they threw a \u2018disgusting tantrum\u2019 and accused her of trying to \u2018destroy their childhood memories and the final memories of their father by selling the family home\u2019.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

The mom, who wrote to the Daily Mail\u2019s agony aunt for advice in April this year, said her children \u2018demanded\u2019 that she sign over the property to them and that they will rent it out – so she can use the money it brings in to live off.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

But the woman refused and is adamant she wants to move on as being in the house is a \u2018constant reminder\u2019 of her late husband.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

After telling the kids it was a firm no, they hit back by saying they had enlisted the services of lawyer to try and \u2018legally stop\u2019 her from selling up.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

\u201cThey claim it\u2019s their inheritance and that I\u2019m trying to keep the money away from them,\u201d she wrote.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

\u201cThe last thing I wanted at this point in my life was to get involved in some horrendous family feud. I\u2019m absolutely disgusted by their behaviour and can\u2019t get over how selfish they\u2019re being.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

The devastated widow went on to say that her late husband would be \u2018furious\u2019 over the behavior of their children.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

And, although she doesn\u2019t want to, she\u2019s considering giving in to them so she can \u2018live in peace without the threat of a lawsuit\u2019 from her own offspring.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

Agony aunt Jane Green sympathised with the woman over the \u2018horrible\u2019 situation she was in.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

But she thought there could be a solution that left all parties happy.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Green suggested either selling the property to the kids or offering to \u2018help \u201cfinance\u201d their purchasing of the house in return for a monthly stipend enabling you to live\u2019.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

However, she went on to say that while such options may help solve one problem, they don\u2019t tackle the \u2018emotional trauma\u2019 she’s been through.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

Summing up, Jane told the mum to \u2018bring in some experts, look at the options\u2019 and \u2018bring your children into those conversations and meetings so they can be a part of you all working this out\u2019.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
