Machine Gun Kelly is changing his name – and people have a lot to say about it.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

The rapper-turned-punk singer recently revealed that\u00a0he’s dropping ‘Gun Kelly’ from his stage name<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

At GQ’s recent Men of the Year party, the musician politely asked photographers: “Instead of ‘Machine Gun Kelly<\/a>,’ can you hit me with just ‘Machine’ next time?”<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

MGK hasn’t publicly shared why he’s decided to change his name, but it could come after some argued that his stage name glorified gun violence.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

Doubling down on his intentions to change his name, the ‘Papercuts’\u00a0singer<\/a>\u00a0has shared a snap of himself to\u00a0Instagram<\/a>\u00a0with the caption: “‘Machine.'”<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

“Should we call you machine now?” one of his fans asked in the comments section of the post.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

Meanwhile others shared their thoughts on his new moniker, and it has mixed reviews.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

One fan penned: “Please do not change your name! Your true fans love you!!!!!!!!!”<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

“We all love machine,” said another who appeared to be in favor of the change.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

“I hope he was only joking. Lol,” added another more skeptical follower.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Elsewhere\u00a0on X<\/a>, someone went as far as calling the name swap as ‘stupid’.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

“I\u2019ve heard that Machine Gun Kelly is going to change his name to ‘Machine’,” they posted on the platform.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

“Truth be told\u2026 I don\u2019t understand, and I think it\u2019s a stupid decision. But I guess we\u2019re just gonna start calling him M (instead of MGK) and that\u2019s pretty close to Eminem. Just saying.”<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

Someone else said: “Machine gun Kelly changed his name to just ‘machine’ and for some reason that sh*t is so funny to me.”<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

Australian radio host Kyle Sandilands has also weighed in on the matter and poked fun at the singer’s new stage name.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Addressing the speculation that the change comes after MGK was accused of glorifying gun violence, Sandilands fumed: “That\u2019ll fix everything, Machine Gun Kelly changes his name and the weapons problems in America will all dissolve… what an idiot.”<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

He continued to say on Friday’s (November 24)\u00a0Kyle and Jackie O Show<\/em>: “You look at the guy and he\u2019s not a machine. You are not a machine bro.”<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

Safe to say Sandilands made his thoughts on the matter quite clear (and probably won’t be rushing to buy tickets for the singer’s next tour).<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
