One of the twins was white like their mother, and the other was Black like their father.<\/p>\n<p>When Alison and Dean first discovered they were pregnant with twins, they assumed their babies would take after both of them. When Alison gave birth to Laura and Hayleigh in 2001, however, the parents were met with a surprise.<\/p>\n<p>Laura had inherited her mother\u2019s light skin, blue eyes, and red hair, while her twin sister had much taken after her father.<\/p>\n<p>Of course, Alison and Dean were astounded, as were their families. They\u2019ll say, \u2018You\u2019re lying, you aren\u2019t twins \u2013 prove it!\u2019 So we\u2019ll reel off the same address or pull our passports out. The black group were trying to integrate me and I was like, \u2018This is my white twin sister.\u2019 No one could believe it. People look at us like it\u2019s some kind of miracle. I\u2019m still amazed that we are twins.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, Lauren, who has her mother\u2019s green eyes and fair hair, said, \u201cPeople just assume we\u2019re best friends rather than sisters, let alone twins.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m happy with that because she is my best friend.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>For a biracial couple expecting twins, there is about a 1 in 500 chance those twins will have different skin colors, according to the BBC.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/plugins\/post.php?href=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.facebook.com%2Fphoto%2F%3Ffbid%3D10154323019236581%26set%3Da.10151045774246581&amp;show_text=true&amp;width=500\" width=\"500\" height=\"387\" frameborder=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\" data-mce-fragment=\"1\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Fast forward seven years and Alison found herself pregnant again \u2026 with another set of twins! As Laura and Hayleigh turned 7, their mom gave birth to another set of twin sisters where the same thing happened, and the family made headlines again.<\/p>\n<p>This time around, Alison was induced at 37 weeks when doctors found that her babies were in the breech position. It\u2019s like having two Mini-Mes,\u201d said their father.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey are best friends and close in every way, apart from looking different. It took me some years to understand the science of how they could appear so different,\u201d their mom added.<\/p>\n<p>Leah\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.thesun.co.uk\/fabulous\/8606111\/british-family-are-the-worlds-only-with-two-sets-of-twins-both-one-black-one-white\/?ref=demicblog.com\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">shared<\/a>: \u201cLauren and Hayleigh are my heroes.
