When Oksana Kobletskaya, from Ukranian town Odessa, fell pregnant, she was overjoyed.<\/p>\n

The 36-year-old woman was already mom to a three year old daughter, and she and husband Sergey were looking forward to welcoming one more family member.<\/p>\n

But what they thought would be a normal pregnancy would develop into a shocking twist that left people around the world speechless.<\/p>\n

Oksana and Sergey had never planned to have a big family, they had agreed that two children would be perfect.<\/p>\n

They simply didn\u2019t have the means to support more children, the couple agreed.<\/p>\n

But even in the earlier stages of her pregnancy, Oksana suspected that there was more than one child in her stomach.<\/p>\n

She couldn\u2019t help but think that something was different.<\/p>\n

\u201cNo one in our family had ever been pregnant with twins. I was sure I would never experience anything like this\u201d, Oksana tells German news source\u00a0Heftig<\/a>.<\/p>\n

But the fact was, this was only the beginning, and there was a bigger suprise that was yet to be revealed\u2026.<\/p>\n

When Oksana went to her ultrasound, she saw the doctor start to frown.<\/p>\n

And soon she received some incredible news.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen I saw the shock on the doctor\u2019s face, my heart stopped for a moment,\u201d Oksana says, and continues:<\/p>\n

\u201cThen I heard him mumble something along the lines of: \u2018You deserve to have a big house by the sea\u2026\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

Then the doctor explained: \u201cI can see five fetuses, maybe six. It\u2019s hard to tell.\u201d<\/p>\n

It turns out Oksana was expecting five babies.<\/p>\n

As you can probably imagine, this is extremely rare.\u00a0Only 1 in 47 458 321 pregnancies results in quintuplets.<\/p>\n

While Oksana was still trying to process the news, the doctor ran around the hospital close to ecstatic.\u00a0Nobody at the hospital had ever seen anything like it.<\/p>\n

But for Oksana and Sergey, it wasn\u2019t all smiling faces.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt almost felt like a nightmare, as though I would wake up at any moment,\u201d remembers Oksana.<\/p>\n

She and her husband couldn\u2019t help but worry: they realized that they would be forced to change all their plans for the future.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt takes time to process this kind of news. I mean, how would we manage to take care of so many children,\u201d, says husband Sergey.<\/p>\n

In her 30th week, Oksana went to the hospital and prepared for the birth.<\/p>\n

When she reached the delivery room, there were 8 doctors stood waiting for her.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe treated me like I was made of porcelain\u2013 they were extremely cautious,\u201d Oksana says.<\/p>\n

Oksana gave birth to three boys and two girls via C-section.<\/p>\n

The doctors were prepared for the worst, since this kind of pregnancy carries big risks.<\/p>\n

But when it was all over, the doctors could confirm that five healthy, happy babies had been brought into the world, although they were a little premature.<\/p>\n

Babies Daria, Alexandra, Denis, Vladislav and David became instant celebrities.<\/p>\n

Today, the babies are 3 years old.<\/p>\n

The birth was historic \u2013 the babies were the first quintuplets born in Ukraine, reports\u00a0The Mirror<\/a>.<\/p>\n
