Mel Gibson has been a mainstay in show business for several decades. The Hollywood star also has nine children, one of whom,\u00a0Milo Gibson<\/strong>,\u00a0is now starting his very own movie career.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Milo Gibson\u2019s been in several films, even working together with his father on occasion. And, at 32 years of age, he is the spitting image of his Hollywood icon father.<\/p>\n

Few actors have played such iconic roles as Mel Gibson.\u00a0Braveheart<\/em>\u00a0(1995) and\u00a0Conspiracy Theory<\/em>\u00a0(1997) are two of his most beloved roles, but the fact is that Mel Gibson has done so much more.<\/p>\n

Mel Gibson<\/h2>\n

During the years he\u2019s spent in the spotlight, Mel\u2019s had a wife \u2013 whom he divorced \u2013 and, since 2014, a new partner. Somehow, while being an action-packed star, traveling the world to shoot films as an actor, director and producer, Gibson has found the time to raise nine wonderful kids.<\/p>\n

Some of them have chosen a life outside the public eye, while some wanted a career in film. One of them, Mel\u2019s\u00a0son<\/a>\u00a0Milo Gibson, his now well on his way to becoming a real Hollywood star.<\/p>\n

And he looks just like his old man!<\/p>\n

Mel Gibson was born in New York in January of 1956. When he was 12 years old, his father won a \u201csmall fortune\u201d on\u00a0Jeopardy!<\/em>, and decided that his family should move to Australia.<\/p>\n

Mel Gibson \u2013 career<\/h2>\n

They settled in New South Wales, and following his graduation from high school, Mel Gibson went into the world of acting. His sister enrolled him \u2013 without his knowledge \u2013 in the Sidney National Institute of Dramatic Art (NIDA). He decided to go, and it didn\u2019t take long before he became a fully-fledged actor.<\/p>\n

In 1977, Mel landed his first role in the film\u00a0Summer City.<\/em>\u00a0A filmmaker named George Miller took note of him, and that changed everything. Gibson was then cast in Miller\u2019s first low-budget futuristic thriller\u00a0Mad Max\u00a0<\/em>(1979),\u00a0<\/em>and soon he became a star in Europe and Australia through the success of the movie.<\/p>\n

Gibson went on to star in several other films and win the Australian film Institute\u2019s Best Actor Award. By 1981, he had taken a huge leap into the\u00a0world of Hollywood<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Mel Gibson starred in the\u00a0Max Max\u00a0<\/em>sequel\u00a0the Road Warrior\/Max Max 2<\/em>\u00a0in 1981 and the US audience was sold. Mel found himself placed in the same category as action stars such as Clint Eastwood and Arnold Schwarzenegger, though he could do so much more than just action movies.<\/p>\n

Directing<\/h2>\n

Firstly, his astounding interpretation of\u00a0Hamlet\u00a0<\/em>in 1990 showed everyone that he could take on softer roles as well. Three years later he made his debut as a director with\u00a0The Man Without a Face<\/em>. But, in 1996, Mel Gibson reached\u00a0Hollywood stardom<\/a>\u00a0and achieved status of a whole different level.<\/p>\n

When Mel Gibson was handed the script for\u00a0Braveheart<\/em>, he knew almost instantly that he wanted the project, and not only in an acting capacity.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is just a funny corner of history that I\u2019d never heard of before. And the script was a very haunting piece of work,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cI put it down and thought, \u2018it\u2019 a pretty good script\u2019. And then I couldn\u2019t stop thinking about it, it obviously got inside my head.\u00a0It was given to me on an acting basis, but I just felt I had to tell this story, I repeated scenes and sequences inside of my head. So that\u2019s a pretty good indication that you probably should direct it.\u201d<\/p>\n

Mel Gibson, whose own mother is Irish, didn\u2019t know the dialect at all.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt was difficult, but I was up there and immersed among people who all needed subtitles,\u201d he said on the\u00a0Graham Norton Show<\/a>. \u201cI\u2019d ask people \u2018What did you say?\u2019 and they\u2019d have to repeat it, so eventually it kind of worked its way into my lexicon.\u201d<\/p>\n

Mel Gibson \u2013 Braveheart<\/h2>\n

Mel needed someone who could teach him the dialect, and the perfect man was Sean Connery. Not only was he an actual Scotsman, he had also played roles such as James Bond and the King of England, all with his great and super charming Edinburgh dialect.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe were at Andy Vajna\u2019s place and he\u2019s Hungarian, so he made Goulash. Now, imagine Sean Connery saying that word,\u201d Gibson\u00a0explained<\/a>. \u201cTo hear Sean actually utter a word like \u2018goulash\u2019 is a lesson in itself. You just pick up the accent from the people you\u2019re talking to and hearing and he helped me perfect my Scottish accent.\u201d<\/p>\n

Well, Mel Gibson\u2019s undertaking of the film was a success indeed.\u00a0Braveheart<\/em>\u00a0became a mega-hit both with critics and the audience, winning a total of five Academy Awards, including Best Picture and Director. It has also been criticized for not being especially accurate in regards to the real history, but none the less,\u00a0Braveheart<\/em>\u00a0was a magnificent film, even garnering comparisons to masterpieces such as\u00a0Spartacus\u00a0<\/em>and\u00a0Lawrence of Arabia.<\/em><\/p>\n

Academy Award-winning actor<\/h2>\n

Mel Gibson continued to star in and produce several movies. In 2017, he was awarded an Academy Award nomination for Best Achievement in Directing for his movie\u00a0Hacksaw Ridge,<\/em>\u00a0a World War II movie about the Battle of Okinawa.<\/p>\n

Not only was it a great movie, but Mel Gibson actually got to work together with his son, Milo Gibson, who had a supporting role in the film.<\/p>\n

Milo is one of Mel Gibson\u2019s nine children, and as you might know by now, he\u2019s enjoying a career in the film business. But it wasn\u2019t always like that, since Milo originally wanted to do something completely different to his father.<\/p>\n

One thing is for sure. He looks exactly like his father!<\/p>\n

One might think that as the son of Mel Gibson, you\u2019d live in all the glamour present in a huge Hollywood mansion. But according to one of his sons, that wasn\u2019t the case.<\/p>\n

Milo Gibson \u2013 Mel Gibson<\/h2>\n

Milo Gibson was born November 16, 1990, in Australia. At just 3 years old, the family moved to California, where Milo grew up in Malibu. He had a big interest in surfing, but just because he was the son of a major Hollywood star, his life wasn\u2019t all glamour.<\/p>\n

Sure, he enjoyed a privileged childhood, but according to Milo himself, his parents made sure that their kids would be like any other child.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt wasn\u2019t a showbiz childhood,\u201d he says. \u201cOur parents kept us out of that type of world,\u201d Milo Gibson told\u00a0The Australian<\/a>. \u201cBecause it changes people, I think.\u201d<\/p>\n

As a child, Milo Gibson didn\u2019t quite understand that his father was known all over the world. It wasn\u2019t until a few years later that he understood his father was a huge celebrity.<\/p>\n

Growing up as a celebrities\u2019 child<\/h2>\n

But at the same time, he was very cautious about telling people.<\/p>\n

\u201cYeah, all the time,\u201d he\u00a0said<\/a>. \u201cI think you learn how to \u2026Read signals? Yeah. I don\u2019t really like to tell people, but a lot of my friends already know and they don\u2019t care. They\u2019re friends with me because they\u2019re friends with me.\u201d<\/p>\n

When he was six years old, his father starred in\u00a0Braveheart<\/em>. Milo watched it it right away \u2013 and he loved it. Actually, he already knew that his father starred in it, since he visited the set of one of the first scenes in the film.<\/p>\n

\u201cI walked into that on set, by myself. Dummies swinging from the roof,\u201d Milo Gibson\u00a0recalled<\/a>. \u201cI remember Dad grabbing me and taking me out, saying, \u2018It\u2019s not real.\u2019 I specifically remember seeing the eyes all staring down.\u201d<\/p>\n

Having last name \u201cGibson\u201d certainly came with some pressure. As with many other\u00a0celebrities<\/a>, fans believe it\u2019s their destiny to follow in their parents\u2019 footsteps. Milo Gibson, however, made an active choice to live outside the spotlight.<\/p>\n

He grew up playing football in high school and surfing in his spare time. Following his graduation, he decided that he was going to be a private massage therapist, a career which he actually worked in for a couple of years. Later on, he became an electrician.<\/p>\n

Milo Gibson \u2013 acting career<\/h2>\n

Milo Gibson loved working with \u2013 as he terms \u2013 \u201creal people\u201d, and since his parents didn\u2019t push him into the film business, he had every opportunity in the world to become who he wanted.<\/p>\n

His father Mel Gibson lived an action-packed life, travelling the world to shoot films and attending celebrity awards and other events all over the country. But he was also sure to raise his children in a normal way, which we really love him for doing.<\/p>\n

Of course, Milo Gibson would eventually walk in his father\u2019s footsteps anyway, though his parents never pushed him into becoming an actor.<\/p>\n

\u201cMy dad was always a big advocate of doing what you like to do, and keep doing new things and trying new things, but do what you love,\u201d Milo Gibson told\u00a0The Hollywood Reporter<\/em><\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd I did that. I had a lot of different jobs but they weren\u2019t things that I wanted to do for the rest of my life. And I have a really big passion for acting and I really love doing it.\u201d<\/p>\n

Working with his father<\/h2>\n

In 2016, he had his first shot at acting when he got to work together with his father in the Second War II film\u00a0Hacksaw Ridge<\/em>, starring alongside actors like Andrew Garfield. It was the start of his acting career, and to work alongside his father \u2013 who was directing the film \u2013 was a perfect start.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt was nice to see him behind the camera,\u201d he said. \u201cI learned that you have to be comfortable taking risks and then stick with them; one of the keys in acting is to be vulnerable.\u201d<\/p>\n

Gibson had his first leading role is the film\u00a0All the Devil\u2019s Men<\/em>, which premiered in 2018. He\u2019s also gotten roles in\u00a0The Tribes of Paolos Verde\u00a0<\/em>(2017) \u2013 starring alongside Jennifer Gardner \u2013 and\u00a0Breaking & Exiting<\/em>\u00a0(2018).<\/p>\n

At 32 years of age, Milo\u2019s career in film has just begun, and we\u2019re sure that he\u2019ll get the utmost support from his parents.<\/p>\n

He\u2019s already had many types of roles, which definitely is a good sign for the future! Besides acting, Milo Gibson has also tried out modeling.<\/p>\n

With his thick hair and intense eyes, he sure is\u00a0the spitting image of his father<\/a>, Mel. Sometimes, people recognize him, though not for being Milo.<\/p>\n

\u201cSometimes people go, \u2018Hey, you look like Mel Gibson!\u2019 And I go, \u2018F**k, I wish!\u2019,\u201d he\u00a0says<\/a>.<\/p>\n
