Cher<\/a>\u00a0may not be seeing her son wed the love of his life at his upcoming\u00a0wedding<\/a>, according to multiple reports about a growing feud between the singer and her first-born child,\u00a0Chaz Bono<\/a>.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Most people will know that Cher has a son, Chaz Bono, who was born during her marriage to Sonny Bono.<\/p>\n

Originally born Chastity Bono on March 4, 1969, Chaz eventually came out as a lesbian before going through a female-to-male gender transition between 2008-2010.<\/p>\n

Chaz Bono wasn\u2019t accepted by Cher<\/h2>\n

At age 18, Chaz came out to both parents as a\u00a0lesbian<\/a>. Speaking of coming to this realization, he told the\u00a0Daily Mail<\/a>\u00a0in 2011: \u201dI\u2019d look at other girls my age and feel perplexed by their interest in fashion or which boy was the cutest.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cAs a child, I always felt there was something different about me. I\u2019d look at other girls my age and feel perplexed by their obvious interest in\u00a0the latest fashion, which boy in class was the cutest, and who looked the most like cover girl\u00a0Christie Brinkley,\u201d Chaz wrote in his book\u00a0Family Outing: A Guide to the Coming Out Process for Gays, Lesbians, and Their Families<\/em>.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen I was 13, I finally found a name for exactly how I was different. I realized I was\u00a0gay<\/a>.\u201d<\/p>\n

Then, at the age of 39, Chaz began his transition to the male gender. It wasn\u2019t until 2010 that Chaz officially became a man, when a California court granted his request for a gender and name change.<\/p>\n

In the documentary\u00a0Becoming Chaz<\/em>, which was shown at the 2011 Sundance Film Festival and aired on\u00a0Oprah Winfrey Network<\/em>, viewers got the chance to follow Chaz\u2019s transition into a man.<\/p>\n

\u201cMy mother went through a kind of mourning period. It was difficult for her, and we didn\u2019t see each other for about the first year of my transition,\u201d Chaz\u00a0told<\/a>\u00a0SBS Australia.<\/p>\n

Cher has always been a great supporter of the\u00a0LGBTQ<\/a>\u00a0community, but in the beginning, it sure wasn\u2019t easy, as she recalls it. \u201cIt was very unlike me to, in the beginning, have a problem with Chaz being gay, and it disappeared like that,\u201d Cher told CNN in 2020, as she recalls her initial reaction.<\/p>\n

Given this it\u2019s safe to say that, over the years, Cher and Chaz have had some strains in their relationship.<\/p>\n

Cher won\u2019t be at the wedding<\/h2>\n

Now, it seems that these strains are only worsening, especially as Chaz prepares to wed his fianc\u00e9 Shara Blue Mathes. Though, Cher won\u2019t be among the wedding guests.<\/p>\n

This decision follows Cher\u2019s recent denial of conservatorship over her son Elijah Allman, who has battled addiction issues.<\/p>\n

Chaz claimed that Cher \u201cobjects\u201d to Elijah\u2019s reconciliation with his wife, Marieangela King. This marks the second occasion in January where Cher\u2019s attempts to gain control over her son\u2019s assets have been unsuccessful. The court favored Elijah\u2019s legal team, citing insufficient time to prepare a case against Cher\u2019s petition.<\/p>\n

Sources close to the situation revealed to\u00a0In Touch<\/a>\u00a0that the relationship between Chaz and Cher has deteriorated over time. According to the source: \u201cChaz and Shara are removing Cher from the guest list entirely and don\u2019t feel too bad about it either.\u201d<\/p>\n

The source added: \u201cThey want a simple ceremony with none of Cher\u2019s theatrics.\u201d<\/p>\n

Between the up and down relationship between Chaz and Cher, and Cher\u2019s issues with Elijah, both children have reportedly chosen to distance themselves from their mother.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
