In an interview with CBS Mornings, the country star said that she accepted the invitation to sing the national anthem for a specific reason.<\/p>\n<p>\u201dI got the news from my manager\u2026he said they wanted me to sing the national anthem at the Super Bowl, and I said, \u2018Oh my gosh, well, let me think about that,\u2019\u201d McEntire recalled. \u201dAnd Rex Linn, my boyfriend, who is a huge football fan, he said, \u2018Yes! She\u2019ll do it! Absolutely!\u201d<\/p>\n<p>According to herself, she was well-prepared for the big moment \u2013 she had practiced diligently. \u201cI\u2019ve been singing the national anthem in the shower [and] when we get in the car,\u201d said McEntire.<\/p>\n<p>Reba also expressed that she felt \u201chonored beyond words\u201d to sing at the Super Bowl for the first time, she told Apple Music host Nadeska Alexis.<\/p>\n<p>\u201dI get to sing a very special song for all Americans, people all around the world, who have really worked so hard for our freedom and to give us peace.
