Widow of Trump shooting victim shares his final words before heroically shielding family from gunman

Corey Comperatore has been named as the man who was killed at a Donald Trump rally over the weekend

The wife of the man who was shot and killed at a Donald Trump rally has spoken out, revealing his final words.

On Saturday, July 13, former US president Donald Trump survived an assassination attempt as he stood on stage in Butler, Pennsylvania.

By means of a miracle, the bullet grazed only Trump’s ear before the Secret Service whisked the 78-year-old away.

Trump went on to thank them for their ‘rapid response’ to the incident, penning on Truth Social after his near-death experience: “I want to thank the United States Secret Service and all of Law Enforcement, for their rapid response on the shooting that just took place in Butler, Pennsylvania.”

Trump continued: “I was shot with a bullet that pierced the upper part of my right ear. I knew immediately that something was wrong in that I heard a whizzing sound, shots, and immediately felt the bullet ripping through the skin.

“Much bleeding took place, so I realised then what was happening. GOD BLESS AMERICA!”

Elsewhere in the post, he sent his condolences to the family of the man who died as a result of the shooting, who has since been named as Corey Comperatore, a retired fire chief of Buffalo Township.

Corey’s loved ones have hailed him as a ‘hero’ after he died shielding his wife and two daughters from the shooter.

In the wake of his passing, Corey’s wife Helen Comperatore has spoken out and revealed her late love’s final words.

“He’s my hero,” Helen told the New York Post. “He just said, ‘get down!’ That was the last thing he said.”

Apparently, President Joe Biden called the bereaved widow after Corey’s death but she didn’t want to speak to him.

“My husband was a devout Republican and he would not have wanted me to talk to him,” said Helen.

Corey’s sister Dawn has also spoken out following the tragic events that unfolded at the weekend, and explained that he’d just celebrated his 50th birthday.

“The hatred for one man took the life of the one man we loved the most,” she wrote on social media. “He was a hero who shielded his daughters.”

Dawn’s post continued: “His wife and girls just lived through the unthinkable and unimaginable. My baby brother just turned 50 and had so much life left to experience. Hatred has no limits and love has no bounds.”

Alongside Corey, two other rally-goers were critically injured in the ordeal. Pennsylvania State Police has identified them as David Dutch, 57, and James Copenhaver, 74.

As of yesterday (Monday, July 15), both men were said to be in a ‘stable condition’.

The FBI also identified the shooter as 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks, from Bethel Park in Pennsylvania, who was shot dead at the scene.
