Thomas Matthew Crooks fired several rounds at Donald Trump during a rally last month

The FBI has issued a response to comments made by a congressman claiming the body of the Donald Trump shooter has ‘gone’ after discovering a ‘disturbing fact’.

Last month, 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks took to the roof of a building located near to where the former president was hosting a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania.

Crooks, who was armed, fired several rounds in Trump’s direction with one of the bullets grazing the former president’s ear.

The suspect was soon shot dead by security on the scene and his body was taken away.

Volunteer fire chief Corey Comperatore was killed in the incident, while two other men were also left seriously injured.

Clay Higgins, a Louisiana Republican, has been tasked to review the motives behind the assassination attempt.

Well, Higgins recently came forward to claim when he attempted to view the body of Crooks on August 5 as part of his inspection, he was told it wasn’t there.

The former police captain-turned-lawmaker revealed in a new report that when he asked officials if he could review the body, it ‘caused quite a stir and revealed a disturbing fact.’

The FBI had ‘released the body for cremation 10 days’ after the assassination attempt on Trump.

Higgins went on to explain that ‘nobody knew’ the body had been sent back to the family, which included the local law enforcement and country coroner.

Due to this, Higgins explained how he feels the FBI is guilty of ‘obstruction.’

The congressman wrote: “We will actually never know. Yes, we’ll get the reports and pictures, but I will not ever be able to say with certainty that those reports and pictures are accurate according to my own examination of the body.

“Similar to releasing the crime scene and scrubbing crime scene biological evidence… This action by the FBI can only be described by any reasonable man as an obstruction.”

The FBI has since issued a stern response to the allegations made by Higgins.

“Any suggestion the FBI is interfering with congressional efforts to look into the attempted assassination which took place in Butler, Pennsylvania, is inaccurate and unfounded,” a spokesperson told the Daily Mail.

“The FBI has been working closely with our law enforcement partners to conduct a thorough investigation into the shooting, and we have followed normal procedures in the handling of the crime scene and evidence.

“The FBI continues its painstaking work on the investigation to develop as complete a picture as possible of what led to the shooting, and we remain committed to maximum transparency as we continue to brief Congress and publish information for the public regarding the ongoing investigation.”
