We could be saying goodbye to these popular Apple devices as soon as next week

The tech giant is discontinuing a popular product series

While many Apple fans are eagerly awaiting the launch of the new iPhone 16 series, some will have to say goodbye to a few older models.

Fans can expect iOS 18 to bring a fresh new look to the user experience along with a wealth of features. These include ‘new levels of customisation and capability, a redesigned Photos app, and powerful ways to stay connected with Messages, as announced by Craig Federighi, Apple’s senior vice president of Software Engineering.

As early as next week, when Apple introduces the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Pro, the tech giant will also discontinue last year’s iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max, the iPhone 14 Plus, and the iPhone 13.

This isn’t too surprising since Apple often stops selling last year’s Pro models when they roll out new ones. The same thing happened when Apple announced the iPhone 15 line which put a halt on iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max sales.

But this year’s change is a little different in that the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max are the only models currently supporting Apple’s Apple Intelligence AI features.

However, this will soon change since all of the phones in the iPhone 16 series will support Apple Intelligence once they’re released.

But, fret not. Even though Apple will no longer sell them, the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max will still be available on websites like eBay and even through some carriers.

Currently, only members of the Apple Beta Software Program can install the iOS 18.1 Beta and access Apple Intelligence features.

The rest of the Apple community will have to wait until the stable version of iOS 18.1 is available in October.

Some of the most useful AI features include summarising webpages, emails, and texts which saves tonnes of time on reading. It can also be integrated into messages and can adjust the tone of your messages to be more professional or friendly.

We might also see the end of the Apple Watch Series 9, the Apple Watch Ultra 2 and the Apple Watch SE 2 as the Apple Watch 10 hits the scene. The same goes for the AirPods 2 and AirPods 3 if Bloomberg rumours are true about the release of two new AirPod 4 variants.

Apple’s ‘Glowtime‘ event kicks off next week (Monday September 9) where fans will be eagerly be awaiting an official release date for iOS 18.
