This newborn definitely belongs to the heavyweight class of babies.
In response to a TikTok user’s request to showcase the biggest baby, one mother shared her extraordinary experience of giving birth to a 14-pound child. Her response video went viral, amassing over 30 million views on the platform.
“At 38 weeks and one day, I had my second son via C-section by two doctors because he came in at a whopping 14 pounds, .6 ounces, 23 and ¾ inches long.” user @shans1588 starts her video.
Jokingly, the mom added, “Yes, I gave birth to a toddler.” She went on to share that her son had to spend 11 days in the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU), where he earned the distinction of being the largest baby there.
Indeed, this baby’s birth weight is far above the average for human infants. Typically, the average birth weight for babies is around 7 ½ pounds, but this little one weighed in at a remarkable 14 pounds, surpassing the normal weight range of 5 ½ to 10 pounds, as stated by the University of Michigan.
The baby’s size was so remarkable that the hospital unit didn’t have clothing or diapers that fit him. According to the mom, the nurses had to go to the pediatrics ward to find size 3 diapers to accommodate him. When he was eventually discharged and able to go home, he had to wear clothing meant for a child between 6 to 9 months old due to his extraordinary size.
Since then, the baby boy has grown into a “healthy, stubborn, and STRONG” 5-year-old, as proudly mentioned by his mom in a follow-up video showcasing his photos over the years. The once 14-pound child now has a passion for baseball, football, and monster trucks, as highlighted in the clip, which has garnered over 1.7 million views.
Interestingly, these two videos are the user’s only posts on the platform at the moment.
