John Travolta Sets the Stage Ablaze with a Timeless Grease Dance Display

Even if you don’t consider yourself a big movie enthusiast, it’s highly likely that you’ve seen “Grease” at least once in your lifetime. This iconic 1978 film was based on the 1971 musical of the same name and featured actors and actresses who later achieved great success in Hollywood. Among them is John Travolta, who portrayed the charming Danny Zuko. Despite his numerous subsequent roles in films like “Pulp Fiction,” “She’s So Lovely,” “Hairspray,” and Disney’s “Bolt,” many people still associate Travolta with his cheeky boy persona from “Grease.”

Even today, the legacy of “Grease” lives on, with the movie ranking as the second most successful film ever. Unsurprisingly, the 40th-anniversary celebration of “Grease” in 2018 generated tremendous excitement. As we reflect on the four decades that have passed, it’s hard not to notice that John Travolta still looks as good as he did in his youth. Moreover, he hasn’t lost his dancing prowess, as demonstrated in a memorable interview with Jimmy Fallon.

Travolta made an appearance on The Tonight Show to discuss the movie’s anniversary, and he had a surprise in store for the audience. The interview began as expected, with Jimmy expressing his disbelief that he was actually interviewing the John Travolta from “Grease,” proving that even celebrities can get star-struck. The conversation revolved around the movie’s immense success, with Jimmy sharing that even his 12-year-old nieces were familiar with its catchy musical hits.

As Jimmy praised Travolta’s exceptional singing and dancing abilities, he attempted to explain a move that Travolta performs at the end of the film with his co-star Olivia Newton-John. This dance move, known as the “four corners,” holds special significance for Travolta. He explained that it was inspired by the novelty dances he grew up with, and when they needed a step for the song “You’re the One That I Want,” he suggested incorporating the four corners move.

Sensing an opportunity too good to pass up, Jimmy eagerly asked, “Can you show it to me?” The crowd erupted in applause as Travolta took the stage, and the iconic “You’re the One That I Want” began to play. Jimmy joined in on the moment, standing beside the “Grease” legend and following his every move as they bounced on the soles of their feet. After waiting for the groove to set in, Travolta swayed his hips in the signature “four corners” move, stepping forward and backward and hitting the literal “four corners.” It didn’t take long for Jimmy to pick up the simple yet iconic dance, and the pair danced in perfect sync.

By this point, the crowd had lost all control, cheering and applauding their hearts out. Jimmy encouraged the audience to give it up for John Travolta, who was thoroughly enjoying himself and couldn’t resist dancing even more. While many men in their late sixties might shy away from the dance floor, Travolta unequivocally demonstrated that he still possesses remarkable dancing skills. Although his good looks may play a part, Vanity Fair revealed that he had received professional dance training before venturing into acting. That certainly comes in handy!

If you’re in need of a little pick-me-up, watching John Travolta and Jimmy Fallon dancing the “four corners” is guaranteed to bring a smile to your face. You can watch the full video below.
