When you bring a dog into your life, it isn’t long before you realize just how much they can mean to you. Dogs have the ability to reach out and wrap themselves around your heart, and they quickly become a member of the family.

Even though we may have many different ways that we could bring a dog into our family, rescuing a dog is often one that is well worth considering. Not only do we get a loving dog that can be a big part of the family, we are doing so and saving a dog from a difficult life as well.

Joey Wagner is somebody who understands this all too well. He is a Marine from Nova Scotia, Canada, but he also works for the Baie Ste Marie Animal Society as a volunteer on occasion.

He experienced something that really changed his life in 2013. A pitbull was reported that was severely abused and had been neglected by its former owner. One thing that the dog needed more than anything else was love.

Joey showed up on the scene and it wasn’t long before he realized that the dog would not make it much longer. He brought the puppy back to the rescue and they named him Mojo.

After taking the dog to the veterinarian, they realized he was dehydrated and mange. He had already lost all of his fur, even though he was only three months old and mites had bitten him all over his body.

“When Mojo was surrendered it was a fast process and a very emotional time,” Joey wrote on Facebook. “We had many people request to adopt him, however, because his health was severe it was not considered.”

Although Joey had seen a lot of dogs that needed help, he fell in love with Mojo and his wife fell in love with him as well. Even though he had been mistreated, Mojo was always loving toward him and showed forgiveness beyond compare.

He even said that the dog’s will to live was enormous.

Eventually, they brought Joey to their forever home and filled out the paperwork for adoption. It took nothing for the dog to be approved to be adopted into Joey’s home because he had been there for the dog since the beginning.

On the day that Mojo was going to go home with Joey, he reacted in a way that was unbelievable. Not only was Joey smiling, but the entire Internet was smiling with him.

They have been together for seven years since that beautiful day and Mojo is now a very spoiled and healthy member of the family. Even though he never got all of his fur back, he is doing well and living the good life.
