You never quite know what you are going to face when you work at a zoo. Nobody knows this better than Robert Irwin, son of the late Steve Irwin.
When Robert Irwin was working recently at the Australia Zoo, he was called on to take care of a situation. It seems as if a Python was in the park and they needed to capture it.
The problem was, that the Python wasn’t in an enclosure, he was stuck in a vending machine. Robert Irwin was in his car on the way to the zoo when he heard about the snake trapped in the machine.
Trying to free a Python stuck in a vending machine is not something that happens every day. Robert Irwin even admitted that it was a first for him.
After arriving, he saw the snake between some bottles of Coca-Cola. He got access to the inside of the machine when a repair man opened it.
As the rescue proceeded, a video was taken and it was shared on TikTok. He joked that it was their chance to grab a free Coca-Cola, but he really had his mind on what needed to be done.
After removing an interior panel, he was able to see the snake curled up in the machine. He was concerned that the Python would get up in the wiring so they needed to pull him up at the front. They also needed to make it ‘nice and smooth’ so they didn’t upset the snake.
Even though it was the first time Irwin had removed a snake from the vending machine, he did it as if he had been doing it his entire life. He then held up the snake so people could get a closer look at it.
After giving the snake some good advice not to go into any more vending machines, he moved the Python to a different area of the zoo.
