Far-left soccer player and anti-American agitator Megan Rapinoe wrapped her professional career in typical fashion Sunday by disrespecting the country that made her famous beyond her worth and rich beyond her wildest dreams. Before her last USWNT game, a 2-0 win against South Africa at Soldier Field in Chicago, Rapinoe stood stoically, often scowling as the Star Spangled Banner was played.
This, of course, tracks with her pattern of disrespecting behavior, as the 38-year-old soccer player has taken every opportunity to grab the spotlight and further her narratives, almost exclusively at the expense of the country that gave her the opportunities she desired.
It should be recalled that the leftist soccer player stopped singing the Anthem in 2016 as a “peaceful protest” against what she perceived as inequality and injustice despite being a privileged white woman. Following the lead of another rich, elite athlete, Colin Kaepernick, Rapinoe made it her mission to gain as much of the spotlight as she could through race-baiting, bombast, and often simply whining and complaining about the United States.
To add an extra layer of disrespect, Sunday’s match was preceded by a ceremony honoring the leftist soccer player. Surrounded by her family and friends, including fiancee and ex-WNBA star Sue Bird, Rapinoe gave what conservative firebrand Megyn Kelly called ‘her last middle finger to the United States.’
Kelly wasn’t done with her criticism of Rapinoe. She went on to say: ‘She doesn’t say one word. She doesn’t touch her heart. She looks angry the entire time she’s out there. She received the Presidential Medal of Freedom from President Biden, the highest civilian honor in the land. Her relationship with Sue Bird, a lesbian relationship, has been celebrated by virtually every magazine and in every media corner and still, she can’t find even the gesture of putting her hand on her heart.’
Rapinoe’s disrespect for the Anthem follows years of over-the-top activism. Rapinoe stumped for equal pay despite the women’s game not drawing the same viewers and staunchly defended biological men in women’s sports, all the while claiming to advocate for women’s rights. Rapinoe has seen equal pay granted and unfettered access in terms of women’s sports, but apparently, it’s not enough.
Kelly continued: ‘All I can say is, thank God those girls were looking forward and not looking back at Megan Rapinoe. And I hope she rides off into the sunset to be alone with Sue Bird. I hope I never have to listen to her comment on any soccer game or anything in the future because she doesn’t deserve it.’
After the match, and seemingly unaware of the prevailing public opinion of her antics, Rapinoe opined: “I know that I am a liked player. And I know that I mean a lot to the game. But to have this night come and to actually feel it and see it — from my teammates, from our staff and certainly from the fans, who have been such a huge part of our success on and off the field, really — it was very special.”
While she may claim to be loved and revered in the sport, the sports world will be a much more pleasant place without her saber rattling and bombastic commentary. Hopefully, Megyn Kelly is correct, and we never have to see or hear from the anti-American soccer player again.
