My Neighbor Always Puts 3 Ice Cubes In Her Dryer, And I Finally Got The Courage To Ask Her Why

A lot of people have their own quirks when it comes to cleaning the house. Perhaps they learned them from their mother or grandmother. Whatever the home cleaning hacks came from, they seem to work. Some people use baking soda and vinegar for everything while others turn to Mr. Clean magic erasers for so much more than they’re advertised for.

But when it comes to getting your clothes ready for a night out, there is a life hack that can save you a lot of time – and the annoying chore of having to iron your clothes. I noticed this first when I was over my neighbor’s house and watched her toss a few ice cubes in the dryer. I had seen her do it before, always when she was going to go out for some time, but I had never asked her what it was until now. And I’m glad I did because I’m stealing the trick right away. Plus, it doesn’t cost you anything.

If you’re looking to get smooth laundry that seems pressed, place two or three ice cubes in there with the clothes. So how does it work? It’s simple really.

The dryer melts the ice and then turns it into steam through the process. The steam then de-wrinkles your clothes like nothing else.

When you use this trick in your home, it’s best to use only a small load of laundry. It’s perfect if you’re short on time or just hate ironing your clothes. I certainly hate it and am not alone in that pet peeve.

A lot of people have put this method to the test. And they’re happy to report that it works like a charm. If you’re looking for a quick way to get your clothes straightened, try it because it saves you time and it doesn’t cost anything extra.

When you put this to good use, only put a few shirts or a shirt and a pair of pants in the dryer at the same time. You need the dryer to be able to steam the ice cubes and make them work their magic. It’s a simple trick that does the job right.

The ice cube and dryer trick do the job. But if you don’t have a dryer or don’t want to rack up the electric bill for some clothes like this, try a hairdryer.

There are also other tricks that you can use. The next one has to do with keeping your towels nice and soft. While fabric softener should be able to do the job, there’s a more natural way to keep them baby soft.

“Use vinegar instead of fabric softener. Works better, and no, it doesn’t smell,” someone shared online after an Australian mother shared her woes about her towels.

Another person suggested to use the dryer for towels but remove them while they’re still a bit damp. They’ll be softer.

Do you have a cleaning trick that your family loves? Do you have a cleaning secret that’s been passed down through the generations?
