Recently on an episode of HBO’s “Real Time” host Bill Maher approached the topic of the southern border and the ensuing migrant crisis America is facing. Maher called out the hypocrisy of Democrats who slammed the idea of a border wall under Trump’s presidency, yet are calling for border reinforcements in recent times.
Maher introduced the topic by stating how what was once an issue isolated to southern red states, has become a national problem that has spread to locations such as New York City. Maher alludes to bussing initiatives from Republican figures such as Texas Governor Greg Abbott.
“We’re gonna talk about the border. Because, you know, I feel like one issue since we’ve been offered these five months is sort of like gathered more intention and the other and that is that the border crisis has sort of become a national crisis. It was always something like, oh, it’s down there. And yes, it’s bad, but it’s now it’s all over the country because they’ve been bussing to migrants and so forth,” Maher said.
The liberals spent years demonizing claims from former President Donald Trump who consistently campaigned on the need for a border wall. “Here’s what our Homeland Secretary said….There is presently an acute and immediate need to construct physical barriers. Thank God not a wall,” Maher joked, mocking the Democrats for taking every possible step to avoid saying “border wall” as it might give credit to the ideas of Trump.
Maher pointed out that the present illegal immigration crisis is a political nightmare for the Democrats as it could vindicate former President Trump. The “Real Time” host illustrated that it appears the Biden administration is even adopting the border policies of the Trump administration. Maher further calls out the liberal “sanctuary cities” whose policies have completely backfired, making them look like “hypocrites.”
Maher closed the clip with a joke aimed at New York City and a seeming vindication of red sates bordering Mexico, stating, “and also, the club scene is dead. But I mean there is a little you know, I understand a little I told you so from the people on the border.”
