People divided by how Taylor Swift fans are behaving while watching her Eras Tour in cinemas

Taylor Swift fans have divided opinions online after a video was posted of them up in the aisles dancing and singing along.

It’s fair to say that young fans of a big band or musician getting very over-excited is not exactly a new thing.

Some accounts of early Beatles concerts claimed they couldn’t actually hear The Beatles themselves over the noise of screaming fans.

The Beatles may be long gone as a band, but the screaming fans are very much still a part of music, only now it’s Taylor Swift‘s Eras tour that’s getting people extremely excited.

So excited, in fact, that they don’t even need to go to the live concert to be on their feet dancing and singing along to everything.

Even a showing of the tour in a cinema is enough to get Swifties singing along to their favourite tunes.

Tickets for the live tour have become like hens’ teeth, selling out extremely quickly. For those who weren’t lucky enough to buy a ticket, or who aren’t willing to shell out hundreds of dollars to buy a price-gouged ticket from a third party, the film is a way to still get some of the Eras experience.

And some attendees were left less than impressed by the behaviour of their fellow fans.

In an echo of earlier complaints about The Beatles from decades before, one wrote: “I’m at the worst screening ever cant even hear Taylor”.

Another reminded people that the rules for a cinema are different to those of a concert, posting: “y’all make this so unenjoyable. i get u wanna have fun but u need to remember this is a movie theater, not a stadium. some ppl would like to just sit & sing in their seats.”

A third wrote: “At what point does this go from ‘harmlessly having fun’ to ‘everyone wants to be the main character and doesn’t respect anyone else in the theatre’.”

Another took a more measured approach, posting: “Guys it’s ok to dance in your seats and sing along but please don’t do this in cinemas”.

But not everyone took this view, with one person pointing out that fans were urged to treat the film like a concert.

They wrote: “Some of you are straight up being mean to other Swifties when Taylor and her team literally said treat this like a concert y’all forget that this is the eras tour experience for some Swifties ofc they are going to dance and sing if you want silence watch it at home.”
