A grandpa who became an internet meme for accidentally eating paint he thought was yogurt has sadly passed away, his granddaughter revealed.
An elderly man named Bobby gained social media fame in 2019 after his grandchild, Alex Stein, took to X (formerly known as Twitter) to share a hilarious photo of his mint green lips after mistakenly eating half a tub of paint.
“Sooo my grandpa ate half a quart of paint today thinking it was yogurt,” she penned in the viral tweet – which has garnered a staggering 518K likes and 179K retweets.
At the time, Alex shared a follow-up post, revealing that then-90-year-old Bobby had a stomach of iron, with his insides reportedly “unfazed” by the unappetizing dessert.

Sadly, our beloved internet grandpa peacefully passed away in his sleep earlier this year, as confirmed by Alex in a touching Instagram post shared on Thursday (November 2).
The statement, which included an emotional compilation of videos and pictures of Bobby, read: “Today would’ve been Bobby’s 92nd birthday. For those who don’t know, he passed away peacefully in his sleep this June. And though he’s missed tremendously, he really did live a long, happy, healthy & fulfilling life as a doctor, musician, father, and grandfather.”
“He loved nothing more than to make people laugh, so having the internet as his audience truly meant the world to him. Huge thanks to everyone who’s supported Bobby boy over the years – I’m confident you guys will keep his legend alive,” she concluded.
Tributes have since been pouring in for the icon, with many supporters expressing their condolences and recalling the laughter he brought to their lives through his antics.
One user said: “You were my favorite idol. I loved watching the content you’ve posted all these years. I hope [your] family is doing well, thank you for all the great laughs you’ve shared.”
Another commented: “I hope I’m as happy and energetic as Bobby when I’m his age. 91 is a fantastic age to live to and to have a personality as great as Bobby’s at that age? That’s awesome! Rest in peace.”

Bobby set up an Instagram account to document his life and antics after going viral in 2019. His hilarious bio reads: “Retired psychiatrist, yogurt connoisseur, and your grandma’s favorite meme.”
“When I say he loves yoghurt, he LIVES for yoghurt. My mom buys at least seven quarts of vanilla Danon yoghurt a week,” she said, per Metro.
Alex added: “My grandpa has always loved entertaining people. He doesn’t care whether people are laughing with him or at him.”
