Kim Kardashian reveals what Salma Hayek said to her after backlash for AHS role

The majority of American Horror Story fans were baffled when it was announced last year that reality star Kim Kardashian had bagged herself a role in the new series.

The eerie FX anthology series – which has previously starred the likes of Sarah PaulsonEvan PetersLady Gaga and Jessica Lange – has received countless accolades for its horrifying storylines and nauseating special effects.

Certainly not for the fainthearted, many viewers of the long-standing series couldn’t believe that Keeping Up With The Kardashians favourite Kim would be taking part.

Though the mother-of-four has taken on several acting roles in the past – including during performances on Saturday Night Live, as well as in 2008’s Disaster Movie and 2021’s PAW Patrol: The Movie – this marked her first time in a recurring role.

Kim, 43, made headlines when she was cast as publicist Siobhan in the latest series of AHS, named Delicate, with many fans believing the role should have been given to a trained actress.

This week, Kim has opened up about a conversation she had with Hollywood icon Salma Hayek shortly after she was cast, following the initial criticism she received.

Speaking on her family’s Hulu series The Kardashians, she told viewers: “I just have to get it together. All these people are like speaking out like, ‘You should give the role to Salma Hayek. Why don’t you give a real actress a job?'”

Revealing she reached out to Black Mirror star Hayek, she went on: “I said to her like, ‘What did I get myself into? I feel bad.’

“And she’s like, ‘Do not feel bad. Maybe this whole road has led you here because you are supposed to be an actress and this is your real career’.

“And I am like, ‘You are right, Salma Hayek.’ And I was like, can we play sisters in something? Because you are my idol.”

The reality star’s following on Instagram dropped some 280,000 in the wake of her appearance on the show.

This reduction came in just three weeks as people unfollowed Kardashian at a rate of around 14,000 people per day.

But Kim also asked in a confessional on the reality TV hit: “Why can’t I just be in law school and be an actress and be a f***ing minister?

“Why can’t I do it all, you know? It’s like, do whatever you want to do, and am I bothering anyone? No.”

Speaking of the role of no-nonsense PR guru Siobhan, she adds: “I like my character. I’m this publicist, she’s an ‘I don’t give a f**k’ kind of girl.

“She just has like no emotion. I’m channeling Tracy (Romulus) and Kourtney, in my head.”
