Dolly Parton’s latest album is the highest charting record in her nearly 60-year career

Dolly Parton released her first album more than 55 years ago with Hello, I’m Dolly.

The record dropped all the way back in 1967 and the singer has given the world 48 solo studio albums since then.

Yes, she has been very busy.

But she has just proved that age is just a number as her latest record, Rockstar, has been her highest charting album in her near six decade career.

Forbes says the 30-track album has debuted at number three on the Billboard 200.

In the first week of sales, Dolly managed to shift 128,000 equivalent album units.

Before Rockstar, she’s only managed to crack top 10 twice.

Her highest charting album before this year was her collaborative record Trio that she made with Linda Ronstadt and Emmylou Harris in 1987.

That one reached number six on the Billboard 200. The other entry in the top 10 was Blue Smoke in 2014.

Forbes notes that Dolly could have got to number one with Rockstar if it wasn’t for Drake and Taylor Swift.

The Canadian rapper released an extended version of his latest record, For All The Dogs, which was sitting at the top spot.

And 1989 (Taylor’s Version) has been sitting comfortably in number two.

Rockstar has loads of covers of some of the biggest songs of all time and also features some of the biggest musicians of all time.

She got Pink and Brandi Carlile to sing on her version of The Rolling Stones’ ‘(I Can’t Get No) Satisfaction’, while Lizzo appeared on her cover of ‘Stairway to Heaven’.

The album also has features from the likes of Stevie Nicks, Steven Tyler, Elton John, Paul McCartney, Mick Fleetwood, Chris Stapleton, Sting and many more.

Dolly recently performed her cover of ‘We Are the Champions’ from the album at the NFL Thanksgiving halftime show and was quickly criticized by some viewers for her outfit.

The iconic country singer came dressed in a full cheerleader costume for the performance and some thought it was a bit much for a 77-year-old.

However, many of her fans leapt in to her defence.

One person said: “Yes..Dolly can pull this off with class.”

A second wrote: “She’s as gorgeous as ever and even more beautiful on the inside.”

A third commented: “More power to her! She looks great!”
